Getting your files set up the right way for printing can be a complicated process. Interior page count, end sheets, bleeds, color output, dust jackets - it can all be very confusing. We don't want you to stress over it - once you send us your signed proposal, we'll send you a detailed, easy-to-follow, custom production kit with templates, assembled specifically for your book's specifications.

 

We'll even have an outside production editor look over your files to make sure they're in good shape prior to sending them to the printer, saving you time, money and aggravation.

Is The IAPC Really Worth It?

You Can Spend Less if You Print Direct - So Why Use the IAPC?

As we're an outside rep working with vetted print partners, our prices need to include our time and a small profit (though we keep that to a minimum). So the reality is you can get slightly lower prices if you work with a printer in China directly. But is the extra savings worth it? Here are some of the reasons why over 1,000 indie authors have opted to work with the IAPC instead of working directly with a printer:

We've Carefully Vetted Our Print Partners: There are literally hundreds (maybe even thousands) of offset printers in China that you can work with. How will you know if the one you choose is qualified, responsible, or will even be there the day after you pay your deposit? We've carefully vetted the partners we work with, and only work with the very best - in fact, the printers that we use to print your books are the same as the IAPC's CEO uses to print his books, which are sold at BN, Target and other stores everywhere, in part because of their print quality.

We Simplify the Process for You: If you're not an expert in printing, the process can be a frustrating one. If you're printing in China, then you'll also need to deal with language barriers and time zone differences, compounding the hurdles you'll need to jump over. And that doesn't include the difficulties involved in international shipping. Our team handles all of this for you, so you can spend that time focused on building your Web site, planning your marketing and other efforts related to increasing sales.

There's No Risk of Ruined Products or Cut Corners: If you work with a printer directly, the reality is you don't matter much to them. They'll give you a low-ball price and then cut corners to save money (and reduce your quality), and if they make a mistake with your printing, they'll likely never fix it. That doesn't happen with us. The IAPC controls over $2M in annual revenue for our print partners, making us too important for them to ignore. If they make a mistake, we'll make sure they fix it, and there is no way they would cut corners for our clients - we make sure of it.

We Go Deeper When it Comes to Print Quality: A printer will take your files and check to make sure they're in good shape – that they're in CMYK, that you gave them enough bleed, that you have the correct number of pages. As long as the files can be printed, then they will be. But we go further that that. We'll check the color output first to make sure your blues and blacks are deep and rich, that your gradients are smooth and your copy is sharp - we want your books to be beautiful and perfect in every way!

Our Services Go Way Beyond Printing: A printer is just a printer - they do their job and they're done. The IAPC goes much further than that. Aside from printing, we also handle all of your international shipping to get your books to their final destination. If you don't have the room or resources to store your books and fill orders, our 8,000 sq. ft. warehouse and 3PL services can handle that for you. Plus, we can help you with sales and we have training opportunities to help you learn marketing and promotion more effectively.

We Give You the Opportunity to Pay Over Time: Nearly all printers will require you to pay them in full before the books leave the print shop (if the printer is handling the shipping for you, you'll need to pay that in advance as well. We've set up our system so that you can (if you'd like), pay through ShopPay (Affirm). This will allow you to pay for your printing and shipping over three, six or even twelve months in equal monthly installments, so you can start selling and pay the bulk of your bill with earnings from the sales of your books.
